Development Squad
Gymnasts who demonstrate talent and determination will be selected by coaches to participate in a trial for the development squad. These gymnasts will enter competitions throughout the year. This provides an opportunity to train more frequently and excel in the sport, with the ultimate goal of joining the tumble squad team. The developmental squad sessions focus on key tumbling elements, flexibility, strength, discipline, and self-control. Regular assessments are conducted to monitor progress, including mental focus and the ability to perform in a competitive environment.
The age group for this squad is 4-8 years old.
Session design
Gymnasts undertake more focused development to prepare them for competitions throughout the year. Gymnasts will usually be invited into a development squad aged 4 - 6 years old. These classes work on core strength, flexibility and basic skills needed to progress your child into the tumble squad. They will be assessed regularly to monitor progress and encouraged children to do conditioning and flexibility work at home to help with their development. The ability to focus, listen to instructions, work with the team and perform in a competitive environment is very important. If children are selected for the development squad group their mental focus as well as physical development will be assessed to see the suitability for this type of training.
When are the sessions?
